Kenneth Mangan, MD, FACP, Professor of Medicine Emeritus Temple University, a prominent hematologist-oncologist who famously founded and directed the Fox Chase-Temple University Bone Marrow Transplant Program, passed away on August 25 following a long battle with prostate cancer and related complications. He was 78 and the older brother of Michael Mangan, SMWA President.

In Michael's last phone visit a year ago, Kenny explained that he had been suffering from poor health for many years but added that every night he always prayed the Act of Contrition, Hail Mary and Hail Holy Queen. He received the last rites from the pastor of the local Sacred Heart Catholic Church where his funeral Mass will be celebrated.

It is refreshing that a man of science with his credentials—not all scientists are atheists!—was God-fearing and faith-filled. And it seems that Our Lady of the Roses had a hand in this.
