The message given through Veronica of the Cross from 9:03-10:13 p.m. The disastrous New York abortion law became effective on this date.
[Our Lady appeared to Veronica and said:]
Our Lady: "My Rosary will be the light of the world.
"Prayer can only stop the man of perdition. Half of the world is already in darkness. No man is beyond the reach of satan.
"Many will perish in the engulfment. There is salvation in prayer. Turn to My Son. Give Him your heart.
NEW YORK THE ABORTION CAPITAL
"Pray for those who have not lived. He breathes the spirit of life at the moment of conception. Do not murder the little ones! (At these words Veronica bent her head low and wept in sorrow and anguish of heart.)
"His hand grows heavy. Many souls will be lost. Pray. All Heaven is saddened. (Veronica continued weeping with sorrowful moaning.)
"Man walks the road to his own destruction! Pray for your brothers. Bring My message to the world. So many souls will be lost! (Veronica spoke with a heavy heart, through tears and sobs.)
A TOTAL COMMITMENT
"Man has forgotten My Son. It hurts to be turned away. Love My Son, as He loves you! You can't bargain with God and man. One you will love, the other you will hate.
"The strong must carry the weak. Keep His cross before you always. Prayer and sacrifice will be your guide to the light. Place not your trust in this world, for it is your exile. Eternity is forever!
"The children are the innocent victims. Pray for your children. My tears fall on all mothers. Come to Me, for I will comfort you.
"Pray! Pray always, My children. There are many souls to be saved.
"I know of a Mother's broken heart that tears cannot mend. My Son will comfort you.
"I bless you all, My children. Pray My Rosary daily."
[In a July 1970 tape recording, Veronica stated: "I do want to mention how Our Lady appeared to me on the evening of July 1, the last vigil. We do have the next vigil, the eve of Our Lady of Mount Carmel coming up, but during the evening [of July 1] Our Lady appeared to me, and the only way I can describe Her appearance is like a living picture—a living, real face from the Miraculous Medal. Well, I say that because for the first time Our Lady seemed to have an oval background around Her. Now I do remember the lights coming from Her hands. You see, Our Lady had on a blue gown—the outer part of Her gown was a dark blue. I never saw Our Lady in such a dark color blue. And it’s very beautiful, and the white gown was inside, and then She had a white mantle over Her head.
"Now what drew my attention were these three lines of light that seemed to be coming from Her fingers of both Her hands. There was three on the right hand, three on the left, but there was a solid white, solid line, light, whereas the light coming from Her garment was more overall and brilliant. But these seemed to be a strong light from Her hands. Many people that I have told it to say that these were the graces from Our Lady’s hands. Oh, She was so beautiful! But She wasn’t so close to me when I saw Her. It seems that I was watching Her, looking at Her from a distance, because Her figure appeared very small."]

Rose Notes from Veronica:
Veronica thanks all of you who made the effort to come to the Shrine to say the Rosary. You have already received many blessings and special graces from Our Lady and Jesus, for They have smiled upon you!
N.Y. LIBERAL ABORTION LAW
New York became one of the first states in the nation to liberalize their abortion laws. The law, which took effect on July 1, 1970, permitted abortions up to the twenty-fourth week of pregnancy, nullifying the previous statute that virtually prohibited them. In the first year of passage, nearly 250,000 abortions were performed in New York City, earning later on the ignominious title dubbed by the New York Times: the "Abortion Capitol" of the nation. Two years later, the State Legislature voted to overturn this heinous law, but was thwarted by the veto of Governor Nelson Rockefeller.
