Poloroid photo taken at Our Lady of the Roses Shrine during the 40th Anniversary Vigil on June 19, 2010 by Jeanne Boissonneault of Waltham, Mass. Miraculously, in the bottom center of the photo, you can see a side profile of Veronica looking and walking right wearing her blue Vigil dress (see enlargement below).

It was a very special and fruitful Veronica of the Cross weekend as we received abundant graces of cure, conversion and healing through the powerful double intercession of this extraordinary visionary and victim soul, and one of the outstanding saints of the 20th century, Padre Pio.

Born in 1887 and ordained a priest in 1910, Padre Pio was renown for his piety and holiness. People came from all over the world seeking his counsel. Our Lord gave Padre Pio the ability to read hearts, cure the ill and even bilocate. He received the visible stigmata from Our Lord in 1918 which remained with him until his death in 1968. Padre Pio was canonized in 2002 by the late Pope John Paul II.

"My spiritual children, you must unite in a common cause. Your world shall be chastised soon. Many shall die in the great flame of the Ball of Redemption. You have been given an extension of time to gather the souls, my children. Do not expect to follow my road and the road of the Savior without suffering. It is truly the way of the cross."

Padre Pio, April 5, 1975

Michael Mangan, President of SMWA, giving a welcome address to the devotees.

Rosaries, medals and other sacramentals are available at our service area, which is operated by Peter Frank (l.), LOSM.

Andrew Stewart of Philadelphia, Penn. leading the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary.

Each Vigil at 9 p.m., during a solemn interval, the pilgrims kneel and raise their Rosary to Heaven invoking the powerful intercession of Jesus and Mary.

Michael Mangan with Rey and Linda Quiambao, who exclaimed the 15th Anniversary weekend was a special and grace-filled pilgrimage.

Polaroid photo taken on Oct. 6, 1989 by Sidney Brauner, a spiritual child of Padre Pio and Jewish convert. Note the side profile of St. Padre Pio attached to the purple garment in the center of the photo (see enlargement below).

Mary Rose Bauer of Cape Cod, Mass., sang Thou Art the Star of Morning, Ave Verum, and Hail, Holy Queen Enthroned Above

Michael Broydrick, Boston, Mass., organizer

Michelle Lowell of Spokane, Wash., leading a Rosary.

To conclude the vigil, all the pilgrims raise candles to herald the 15th Anniversary of Veronica of the Cross, repeating the words:

Mary, Light of the World, pray for us
Our Lady of the Roses, pray for us
Mary, Help of Mothers, pray for us

After the Vigil, the pilgrims had the special privilege of venerating both the crucifix of the Rosary kissed by Our Lady on October 29, 1994 and the reliquary which contains a piece of Veronica's crucifix that the Blessed Virgin Mary would kiss at every Vigil.

Dear Michael and Lay Order
of St. Michael,
It was a great 15th and well deserved for our beloved seer, Veronica of the Cross. Here's my tax-deductible gift which is very much needed to help cover the considerable expenses. Thank you in advance.
