MARY ROSE UPDATE April 19, 2007
AS
WE REPORTED ON APRIL 6 on our e-alert, the 15-year old devotee underwent successful
10-hour brain surgery on Monday, April 2, at Children’s Hospital in
Boston, Mass.
After further study and with the results of
the pathology report in, the doctors now believe that they resected 100%
of this rare brain tumor which is slow-growing and benign. What they initially thought was the 25% left
behind, they now think it was just scar tissue and not tumor.
The brain surgeon has already stated that Mary
Rose will not need chemotherapy or radiation nor will
she require physical therapy much longer. She is eating and moving
about the house and even doing some light chores.
Naturally, Mary Rose will be closely monitored
in the weeks and months ahead by her doctors, with MRIs and other
examinations.
She is still dealing with exceptional pain and
discomfort but, incredibly, there is no impairment or deficit in cognition
or language despite two resections of her brain during day-long surgery.
Notwithstanding her Lenten agony, Mary Rose
has truly demonstrated throughout that wonderful Easter spirit of peace
and as she has practiced from the beginning: complete resignation to God’s
Will.
Asking the Blessed
Mother about Mary Rose, William Dykes, LOSM, snapped this photo of
Our Lady’s statue at the Easter Vigil of April 7, 2007.
Amazingly, a heart appears (center,
bottom) with a side view of a hanging corpus attached to it. It
seems that Jesus is sending His love to Mary Rose and approves of
her Lenten offering as she unites her suffering with His passion and
death on the cross.
Interestingly, Mary Rose was
diagnosed with the brain tumor on Ash Wednesday and her operation
was on Monday of Holy Week. |

Veronica’s signature “V” stands prominently in this miraculous photo
taken of Mary Rose holding three candles by Vigil Coordinator,
Vincent McDonnell, LOSM, on March 19, 2007, at the St. Joseph Vigil.
Veronica of the Cross is surely telling us that she hears our prayers and
is interceding before the Good Father. |
Profound thanks to you
Mary Rose was named after Our Lady of the Roses, Mary Help of Mothers. She
is the daughter of Cape Cod, Mass., organizers, Tom and Mary Bauer, and
the niece of Michael Mangan (SMWA pres.). Mary Rose, her parents and
family and Mr. Mangan are overwhelmed with gratitude for your love,
support, prayers and Masses.
Prayer moves mountains
They firmly believe that the outpouring of prayer from around the globe
is the reason Mary Rose is doing so extraordinarily well. Her recovery
process, albeit still a ways to go, has truly been remarkable, if not
miraculous.
Keep it going
Even so, please continue with your spiritual bouquets and petitions to
Veronica of the Cross—as you can see they’re working!—because Mary Rose
will still need every blessing she can gather as she works toward being
made whole once again.
